It’s been a while since the last blog, so I thought I would let you know what we have been up to. When God gave us the vision for Crossroads Compassion Project, we really had no idea what we were getting into. Oh, we knew that there are girls that need our help in Moldova. And that is, and will remain the core of what we do. But I think we underestimated what a God was calling us to do.
As we started on our quest to fight human trafficking in Moldova, God quickly showed us that this isn’t just a European, Middle-eastern or Southeast-Asian problem. This is a Global Problem! It’s a United States problem! It’s a North Carolina problem! It’s everywhere we look! But the fact is, most people fail to really see or realize what they are looking at. We quickly realized that we should be helping to raise awareness about human trafficking or the commercial sex trade (which are the same thing) right here where we are.
So we have engaged in some domestic projects in addition to our work in Moldova. One of our strategies is the screening of the documentary Nefarious: Merchant of Souls. This film exposes the global sex trade around the world, including the U.S. We have done a few public screenings of the film and we have plans for several more in the near future. Recently, we were able to attend Abolition Summit in Kansas City, MO. This was a three day conference aimed at fighting sex slavery. The conference was hosted by Exodus Cry, who produced the documentary. It was a good time of planning and networking with fellow abolitionists, as well as educational. We left KC with a new determination to fight human trafficking in Moldova and North Carolina. But this is something that is much bigger than us! We need your prayers as we work on a specific plan that we pray for God to use to impact government leaders both here in NC and in Moldova. More about that later!
We have also been collaborating with another organization called Truckers Against Trafficking. We are working on a project to “bombard” truck drivers, motorists, the general public, and hopefully victims with a way to get help, or to report human trafficking. Literally, thousands of people will be impacted by this project 24/7/365! TAT is leading the transportation industry in the fight against sex slavery. Look for Truckers Against Trafficking on the web and on Facebook. We have been working on this since March, and we are getting close to going public with this project, so stay tuned!
Last of all, we feel like God is leading us toward a good business opportunity in Moldova. This will not only be a business to get us closer to financial sustainability, it will also create jobs and most importantly, it will be a ministry to many others. This will be a very big step for us! Please pray for us and this opportunity. Pray for wisdom and God’s provision. Finally, pray for us as we continue this battle that we are fighting. Better yet……why not join us in the fight?
